On Wednesday 26 February 2025, Presbytery installed Rev John Roger as minister of the Stranmillis congregation. It was wonderful to gather with a full congregation as the Acting Moderator, Rev Robert Johnston, led us in opening devotions & the congregational singing of the hymn “Immortal Honours Rest on Jesus Head”.

The Commission of Presbytery was then formally constituted and Mr Harold Gibson, Clerk of Session in Stranmillis, provided a narrative of events leading to John’s call. Following this, the Clerk of Presbytery put the prescribed questions to Rev Roger, who signed the Formula of Subscription. Rev Stephen Roger then offered the Installation Prayer.

The congregation’s former minister Rev Gareth Burke brought an excellent charge to the Minister and Congregation from 2 Timothy 4:5, focussing on ‘Keep your Head’, ‘Endure Hardship’, ‘Do the work of an Evangelist’, ‘Discharge all the Duties of your Ministry’.

It was an encouraging & uplifting evening together, and we continue to pray for John & Claire, and the Stranmillis congregation. We also remember Gareth & Ruth as they continue to serve God in retirement.
